REDUNDANT SERVER

Unattended backup to hard disk

Raid hard disk arrays allows drive redundancy by writing all data to two or more hard drives. If either drive fails, no data is lost. This is a good entry-level redundant system, since only two drives are required; this level is commonly referred to as mirroring.

VST's new high-performance UltraTek/66 Ultra ATA Controller lets you use the latest high-capacity, low-cost Ultra-ATA/66 hard drives as a super-fast internal RAID solution for your Apple G4, or G3. Data transfers are 50% higher than a G4's internal UltraATA. VST's UltraTek/66 and SoftRAID provides blazing data transfers of 35MB/sec Sustained Writes and 45MB/sec Reads in a G3, and 48MB/sec Sustained Writes with 65MB/sec Sustained Reads in a G4 using just two drives, Ultra2 SCSI performance for half the cost. Simply run the SoftRAID Installer and shut down the Mac. Install the UltraTek/66 in a PCI Slot, install your drives with a few screws, attach the data and power cables, and power up. The bundled, award-winning SoftRAID is widely acclaimed as the best overall driver for IO intensive tasks, such as Servers, Databases, PhotoShop, code compiling, digital video and any other Macintosh use where peak disk performance is a requirement. SoftRAID allows you to customize your configuration for your particular application. You can configure your RAID for speed, for data protection or for both.
